Bardot Hair

Bardot Hair

Bardot Hair by chloejay1988 featuring a hair comb

Its timelessness must be down to its sexiness, like the classic bob, the big bardot hair has never really gone out of style.
This updo is more suited for mid-lenght to long lenght hair. The longer the hair the more glamourous this hairstyle will become.

To Get The Look:

Start by cleansing and conditioning the hair, making sure you rinse the product really well. Towel dry the hair, apply some volumising product to give the roots a boost and add a little mousse to give some hold and texture.

Blow dry the hair using a round brush, try and get the brush right into the roots and pull away from the head this will help give added lift. Alternatively you can flip your head over and give the hair a blast with the dryer.

Once the hair has completely dried, seperate your hair into sections and curl the hair away from the face, using curling tongs, heated rollers or GHDs. Once you have curled the hair and wait until it has cooled down before brushing the curls to break them up to give them a softer, more natural look.

Make a section in the hair starting at the temples and meeting below the crown area, like a horse shoe shape. Looking at the back using a mirror will help if you are doing this hairstyle on yourself.

Next divide the section into smaller sections, this will be backcombed. Start at the back so its easier for you to build up the height. Hold the hair with a medium tension and using the comb, work it into the root area only. Backcombing shouldn't knot when done correctly.
Tip: Put the comb in at the root area and work in a curved motions down to the root area and repeat this.

Follow the same backcombing technique until you have reached the top of the fringe area. Don't worry if it looks really messy at this stage.

Softly brush the very top layer of the hair back, smoothing it all over the back-combed section so its covered.

Shape your bouffant shape into the desired height and roundness, then pull the hair back and pin into the centre using hair grips (bobbypins) to hold it in place.

Polish the style by adding a smaller section on each side of the head up into the middle. Try twisting the hair slightly from the sides into the centre to create a balance and a smoother finish.

To finish, lightly spray the hair using a firm hold hairspray.

Tomboy Ponytail

Tomboy Ponytail

To Get The Look:
  1. To get this look, hair doesn't have to squeaky clean. Brush your hair to detangle and section it in 3 to 4 sections.
  2. Section by section spray using a hairspray that gives shine remembering not to hold the spray to close to your head. Use the tips of your fingers to gently blend the product throughout the roots.
  3. Now use your hairdryer to blast at the roots on a high heat to create a messy look. While you do this scrunch and massage the root area, this will help give the hair texture.
  4. Section your the hair around your temples and comb the section with your tailcomb.
  5. Individually pull the sections around towards your nape and secure with a elastic band. Allow the remaining hair to drop from the top of your tied section. Now you should have a neat side profile.
  6. Backcomb the rest of the hair, leaving the crown area, the crown area must lay flat. This will give you a fuller look at the back of your head.
  7. Create a clean side parting and roughly curl the loose strands framing the face, so its a soft wave.
  8. Now secure all your hair at your nape of the neck, including your previous sections with a elastic band. Ensure their is a refined bulbus shape just above the ponytail.
  9. Rub some styling cream between your fingers and run through the ponytail and front. This will keep the style intact and settle any flyaways you may have.
  10. Curl random sections of your ponytail to create a wave. If the curls look too artifical, run your fingers through them to flattern them they will eventually drop, or alternatively use a flat iron and go over the curl lightly to try straighten the curl a little.
  11. Spray with hairspray if required.

Wet Look Chignon

Wet look Chignon

The wet look is a big hair trend for this season.
It's really simple for days you don't really want to
spend too much time on your hair.
How To Get The Look:
1.) Apply a volumising mousse all the way through towel dried hair, and allow it to dry naturally.
2.) Alternatively, flip your head over and give the a blast with the hairdryer on high and dry from underneath. This will acheive the volume that's desired.
3.) Now to acheive the wet look. Apply oil to the hair (Argan or Olive), using your fingers distributing through from root to tips. This will create the shine. Only do this once your hair has completely dried.
4.) Using your fingers to bring back your hair into a ponytail, tie with a elastic loosely at ear level. Note there isn't a parting.
5.) Now wrap your ponytail into a messy bun/chignon and secure with hair grips, pull a few strands out here and there if you want to create a effortless look of style.
6.) If you want more shine add a little more oil to the hair.

How To : Top Knot

top knot

Sleek and sexy hair was so last season - this seasons bun is messy and effortlessly undone.

This style is more effective on longer lenghts of hair.
Such an easy look to create at home in front of the mirror, all you need is bun ring - its a donut shape and it feels like a sponge, an elastic hairband and some hair grips, try to find hair grips that are close to your hair colour (black, brown or gold).

Get The Look:
1. Tip your head upside down, gather together all your hair into a high ponytail and secure in place with your elastic band.

2. Slide your donut ring onto your ponytail, pull the hair through the hole in the middle, if your hair is extremely long, try and track down a larger bun ring - they do come in different sizes and its best to find one that fits.

3. Wrap your hair around the ring and pin loose ends under the donut with your hair grips. Spray some hairspray onto the palm of your hands and rough up your hairline, to create that messy look.

I think this is a fab look to create, great for the office or lounging on the beach. You could try out accessories to dress it up, elastic headbands look really good or you put a flower at the base of your bun for a more summery look

Cats Eyes

This striking make-up look is a classic -
but it does require a bit of practice.

You can either use a liquid or a creme eyeliner. A liquid liner has a tip that gives you good control to draw your line or a cream liner, has a creamy texture and it doesn't dry out, you will need a thin liner brush for the application. A good idea to use pointed cotton buds to help tidy up if needed. This vampy look can be as subtle or dramatic as you wish.

Firstly think about how thick you would like your line to be. Its a good idea to begin with a thin line and then you can make it thicker as you go on.
  • Start off by applying the eyeliner at the inner corner of your eyes, make sure you get as close as you can to the lash line and there isn't any skin showing inbetween. If your feeling confident enough the draw across the eyelid free hand. Use the cotton buds if you make any mistakes. if your not sure, follow on.
  • Gently pull the skin so its taut and draw the liner outwards to the outer corners of the eyes.
  • To create the flick: Draw a short line from the outer corner of your eye and angle it where you want your flick to be. This will differ for each eye shape, try experimenting to see what is best suited to you.
  • Extend the upper line to meet the lower one to create a triangle. If you're happy with where the flicks are then fill in the gap to complete the line.
  • Once filled, go over and check to make sure there are no gaps left. This is when you should tidy up any mistakes you might have made. Just damp the cotton bud and tidy.
  • To finish apply plenty of mascara to your lashes for a pretty look, or if you would like more definition add a bit of brown shadow into the crease of the open eye.

Ombre Marble Effect

I found this blog with a nail art design, i cant find the blog again so i dont know the name of it. she had painted her nails for the 4th july in a tie dye effect in white, red and blue.

I tried it and failed... but I managed to turn it around and this is what i got from it, lol. I thought they looked ok.

It got a bit messy.

You Will Need:

. 3 Nail Colours
I'm using Revlon 050 white on white, Models own Np031 feeling blue and Barry M 272 ( the colour don't seem to have a name, but its a pink shade )
. Toothpicks

Step 1

Paint your nails in your chosen base colour. I have used Revlon 050 white on white. I only did one coat.

Step 2

Now with all three colours blob onto your nail randomly. Do one nail at a time. I kept my design with white mainly at the bottom.

Step3
Then while the nail is still wet swirl the colours together using a tooth pick or a pin to create the marbled effect. If you layer the colours as i did will create the ombre effect.

Have Fun With It!!!
I'd be happy to hear what you think

Extra Tips:

. Don't be disheartened if you need to go a dress size bigger - its better than having bulges!

The key to beautiful nails lies in constant care. Under the nails should be spotless and your halfmoons well cared for; Cuticles should be pushed back and the tinyest imperfection taken care of immediately. Daily use of the right nourishing cream according to your skin type will really help.
